Basketball megastar Lebron James was seen sporting the new Nike Liverpool FC home kit ahead of his side Los Angeles Laker’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA. It is known that James has a long-standing association with the Reds.
The Lakers’ Twitter account posted the snapshot of James donning the brand-new kit that was released earlier this month. The tweet by the NBA giants was subsequently retweeted by Liverpool FC’s official handle on the social media platform.

The basketball superstar had been the subject of great media coverage back in 2011 when he had purchased a 2% minority stake in the Merseyside club. James had received the minority stake as a result of him allowing FSG, Liverpool FC’s ownership group, the exclusive right to his worldwide marketing.
The former Miami Heat star had also attended the Reds’ encounter against arch-rivals Manchester United in the Premier League following his small investment in the Merseyside giants. Afterward, James had termed his presence at the game to be “one of the single best experiences of my life”.
Furthermore, the two-time Olympic gold medalist had branded Liverpool FC to be one of the most renowned and recognized sports outfits in the world, putting the Reds in the same bracket as New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys.
Following Liverpool FC’s split with now-former kit supplier New Balance, Nike swooped in to sign on with the Reds for a reported $39.5 million per year, making it one of the most lucrative sponsorship deals in world football. Moreover, James is also sponsored by Nike, being tied down to the American clothing manufacturer since 2003.
