Three members of Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League title-winning squad, namely Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane, and Trent Alexander Arnold, have been shortlisted for the Premier League Player of the Season award. All three have had a major impact on what has been a heroic season for Liverpool FC in the Premier League.
Club captain Jordan Henderson has enjoyed perhaps his best season in the Reds shirt since arriving at Anfield back in 2011. The 30-year old has been a significant presence in the center of the park for the Merseyside Reds, contributing four goals and five assists besides leading his side to the league title, the club’s first in 30 years.
Senegalese international Sadio Mane emerged from the shadows of teammate Mohammad Salah, with the 28-year old winger dazzling spectators with his heroics on the left flank. Chipping in with 18 goals across the 2019-20 league campaign, Mane also racked up seven assists, making him one of the best forwards this season in the Premier League.
21-year old Trent Alexander Arnold broke his own record for the greatest number of assists by a defender by setting up his teammates 13 times this season in the Premier League. Moreover, Arnold also scored four times for the Reds and was a crucial part of the Liverpool FC backline that kept 15 clean sheets across the league campaign.
The aforementioned three stars of Liverpool FC will go up against a host of other players for the coveted award. Former Liverpool and now Southampton forward Danny Ings, Kevin de Bruyne, Jamie Vardy, and Nick Pope round up the remaining nominees for the Player of the Season honor.
