Recent reports have indicated the high possibility of Gini Wijnaldum signing for FC Barcelona before the transfer deadline of 4th October.
The Dutch international has become new Blaugrana coach Ronald Koeman’s top target this summer as the ex-Holland national team boss aims to revitalize an aging squad at the La Liga giants. Wijnaldum, whose Liverpool FC deal expires in ten months, is seen by Koeman as a regular starter for his new side in the center of the park next season.
An £18 million bid will be tabled by Koeman’s side for his former player which is likely to be accepted by Liverpool FC. The Merseyside giants will prefer to gain something from their midfielder’s sale rather than lose out on Wijnaldum for free next summer.
The Reds are believed to be open to sanctioning the 29-year old’s sale amid strong speculation linking Bayern star Thiago Alcantara with a move to Anfield. The latter’s transfer approach will be made more concrete by the Premier League champions following Wijnaldum joining FC Barcelona, according to reports.
Liverpool FC Jurgen Klopp is understood to be wanting a certain flair of creativeness in the Reds’ midfield. With the current trio of Henderson, Fabinho, and Wijnaldum all being traditional box-to-box midfield options, Thiago’s addition to Anfield is seen as necessary by the German coach.
