Aston Villa and Newcastle United remain contenders to sign Divock Origi before the summer transfer window closes on 4th October, according to reports.
Both top-flight sides are in need of serious firepower upfront on the pitch, and with options being limited in the market for now, Origi’s name has popped up as a potential signing for either of the mid-table teams.
The Belgian international is largely tipped to seal an exit from Liverpool FC after failing to get regular first-team involvement for the club across their Premier League title-winning campaign last season. Besides interest from a number of Premier League teams, Origi’s transfer status has courted inquires from abroad well, in particular from Serie A outfits.
However, in spite of his limited role in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad, Origi has established his reputation within the halls of Anfield as a forward who has come clutch for his side when needed the most.
Turkish club Fenerbahçe S.K. have been rumoured to be in talks with the Reds over a potential deal for the 25-year old this summer. Origi could be poised to sign for the Istanbul-based outfit on an initial season-long loan deal with a permanent obligation to buy, reports suggest.
