Liverpool were much changed on the team sheet with Jurgen Klopp ringing in big changes from the side that last clinched a narrow win over Wolves in league action.

It was the hosts AC Milan who had the breakthrough after a low-key opening from both teams with centre-back Fikayo Tomori slotting his finish into the back of the net following a corner kick.

Divock Origi went close to finding the leveller with a superb effort on goal which was kept out by AC Milan shot-stopper Maignan following which Jurgen Klopp’s men got back into the game.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had a try with a low drive that Maignan parried and Mohamed Salah was there on the rebound to make it 1-1.

A bright start to the second period followed for the visitors with Tomori caught on the ball by Sadio Mane who forced a save out of Maignan with the ball coming Divock Origi’s path.

The Belgian was clinical in his header which landed into the far corner to put his side in the lead with a little more than 30 minutes left to play for.

Origi went close once again with his header as Liverpool saw off the remainder of the game to make it out of the Champions League group stage with a 100% record.
