Ajax’s talisman Dusan Tadic has come out with big praise for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool ahead of the Champions League opening game for both European heavyweights at the Johan Cruff Arena on Wednesday night.
The Serbian international has become one of the top players for the Dutch outfit in recent seasons and was a key part of the team that reached the semi-finals of the 2018-19 Champions League season, which ended in Ajax suffering a heartbreaking loss to Tottenham Hotspurs.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, speaking to reporters ahead of Liverpool FC’s visit to Holland, Tadic spoke highly about his upcoming opponents, with the attacker suggesting that had his side not lost to Spurs last year, they would have posed a tougher challenge to the Reds in the 2018-19 finals.
“It would have been nice to play against [Liverpool] in the [2019 Champions League] final,” said the 31-year old former Southampton man.
“It is difficult to play against them (but) a larger chance than Tottenham for sure.
“I played against Liverpool too often, it was always difficult.
“They put on a lot of pressure with fast football, they are a big team but it will be a great game to play.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be without a number of key first-team regulars for the Ajax game, as Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara were confirmed to be late absentees for the Wednesday night fixture.
