Alan Shearer Reveals His Worry For Liverpool This Season

Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has admitted his main concern for Liverpool is the fact that the Reds have not really managed to splash out the cash this summer transfer window to bolster their squad.

It’s no doubt that Jurgen Klopp has worked his magic on Liverpool as he led the Merseyside club to Champions League success earlier this summer. The German also achieved the most points in a Premier League season with Liverpool ever since the club was formed since 1892 but still finished in second place on the table, just one solitary point behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

But despite finishing behind Manchester City, Klopp and Liverpool have had a relatively quiet summer transfer window signing only a couple of youngsters and a backup goalkeeper. This has come as quite a surprise as most Liverpool fans might have expected that the club would make a big splash in the summer to bolster their squad.

And even Premier League legend Alan Shearer fears that Liverpool should not regret this quiet transfer window. The all-time top goalscorer in the Premier League said, “For Liverpool, it would have been a disaster not to win the Champions League after the season they had – but that confidence will stand them in good stead”

The Englishman went on to explain and gave his own personal experience as an example, “They haven’t made any major signings this summer, yet they believe in what is coming through the system. By all accounts, Rhian Brewster is a special talent who will have a bigger role. My main concern for Liverpool is that City won the title and strengthened even further. That was our big mistake at Blackburn when we won the league, we didn’t go out and buy. I hope Liverpool don’t live to regret it.”
