In a spirited chat with Sky Sports, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain was at his jovial best as the midfielder claimed that stalwart full-back Andy Robertson is surprisingly the most underperforming player in the Liverpool FC training sessions, according to The Daily Mail reports.
However, the English international did admit that Robertson returns to his usual best as a high-flying attacking full-back whenever the Reds take the pitch, much to the shock of his teammates in the Merseyside club camp.
‘I say to him, everyone, all the time, “How can someone that is so bad in a box or a rondo, like the worst I have ever seen, be so good in a match?”‘
‘You watch him in a rondo, and he’s like he has never played football before. He gets in a match, and he’s so reliable, it’s a skill.’
It is certainly an amusing statement from Chamberlain concerning Robertson’s lack of quality in first-team training, with the Scott turning out to be one of the Merseysider’s most crucial players over the last few seasons.
Roberton’s full-back pairing with Trent Alexander Arnold on either side of the football field has been acclaimed by many, as both defenders have seen their stock rise in world football in recent years following the Reds getting their hands on the coveted duo of the Premier League and Champions League titles.
