Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold believes that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp’s unwavering belief has helped shape his life for the better beyond the football pitch.
Klopp extended his contract with the Premier League giants on Friday, agreeing on a deal that keeps him at Anfield until 2024 much to the delight of the Liverpool faithful.
The German head coach arrived at Merseyside back in October 2015 and handed a teenage Alexander-Arnold his professional debut 12 months later, in a rather tricky EFL Cup tie against North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur.
The local Liverpool superstar has gone on to win the Champions League and cement a regular starting berth at right-back ever since and has come a long way. The 21-year-old is still extremely young but shows maturity beyond his age and has heaped praise on his boss.
When asked about Klopp, Alexander Arnold replied by stating that the 52-year-old is someone who has given him plenty of confidence and opportunities as well as make him a better person altogether, “He is someone who has really made me who I am today, Someone who has pushed me to get better every day, someone who has given me so many opportunities that I will never be able to repay all that confidence. He has helped me in every way.”
Alexander Arnold’s regular and early exposure for Liverpool in the first team has also helped him earn a place in the Three Lions squad for England under manager Gareth Southgate. He is also a strong candidate to feature for England in the upcoming Euro 2020s.
