Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has admitted that he is annoyed at the amount of “stupid” goals Liverpool have been conceding this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side has managed to keep only three clean sheets in 19 matches this term and are have conceded a goal in their past eight games across all competitions.
Aston Villa’s Trezeguet breached Liverpool’s defense in the Premier League after being left completely unmarked to finish off from John McGinn’s free-kick on Saturday. And Genk forward Mbwana Samatta become the latest player to score past the European champions at Anfield on Tuesday night as well.
Despite grinding out the victories, Brazilian keeper Alisson is frustrated his side has to do things the hard way.
The 27-year-old Liverpool goalkeeper, who won the Golden Glove last season spoke to reporters and explained that the lack of clean sheets is annoying him, “It annoys me always when we concede Stupid goals! When we concede that way, it annoys me and the team.Â
Alisson further went on to explain that the team has to work better as a unit to preserve those clean sheets, “We always have a common goal to win the game and keep a clean sheet. You are closer to the victory with a clean sheet and you always have a draw. When you concede, the games become more difficult. We need to work better than that if we want to do great things.”
Since returning to the starting line up for Liverpool from his 10 week lay off due to a calf injury, Alisson has failed to keep a clean sheet of the five games that he has played.
Liverpool still sits at the top of the Premier League table and at the top of their Champions League group as well.
