Injury Update

Alisson making big steps in return from shoulder injury, says Jurgen Klopp

Alisson Becker has made positive strides in the road towards his recovery from the shoulder injury sustained by the first-choice Liverpool FC goalkeeper, said Jurgen Klopp in his pre-game interview ahead of the Merseyside derby on Saturday afternoon.

The Brazilian international was forced to miss Liverpool FC’s embarrassing outing at Villa Park prior to the international break after a collision in training left him with a ghastly shoulder injury, which ruled him out for a period up to six weeks, as Klopp’s initial comments had suggested.

However, despite early fears over the extent of his availability for the first-team squad at Anfield, Klopp’s words of encouragement would certainly bring some much-needed comfort to the Liverpool FC fans, who have been left dismayed by the run of form displayed by Alisson’s replacement, Adrian, between the sticks.

“Ali looks really good, he makes big steps,” Klopp said about Alisson’s current situation. “I don’t have a timeframe, but it looks really good.”

The ex-AS Roma shot-stopper will certainly miss the Goodison Park showdown, however, his return from injury will come as a massive boost ahead of Liverpool FC commencing their 2020-21 Champions League campaign with a visit to Dutch champions Ajax a week from now.
