Newcastle United defender Danny Rose has stated that Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson is “a freak of nature” and hailed the Scotsman the best left-back in Europe.
Robertson has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence over the past two and a half seasons with Liverpool following an £8 million move from relegated Hull City in 2017.
Along with fellow fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool have two of the most remarkable defensive duo in Europe however, Robertson is renowned as a more complete player in comparison to the young Englishman.
One of the key factors for Liverpool’s attacking play has been the delivery from the flanks. Robertson and Alexander-Arnold have combined to form a useful weapon in Liverpool’s attacking department breaking the records for most assists in the Premier League.
However, when it comes to defending, Robertson is more comfortable than Alexander-Arnold and on-loan Newcastle United star Danny Rose has exclaimed that the 26-year-old Robertson is the best left-back in Europe.
While speaking on The Lockdown Tactics podcast, the Tottenham Hotspur star on loan with the Magpies explained why Andrew Robertson is the best left-back in the European continent and aims to emulate his traits as a defender himself, “Andy Robertson looks like a freak of nature. I watch him play football and in every game, he gives the same commitment. His consistency levels are extremely high. He is just brilliant. We played Hull four or five years ago at White Hart Lane and Robertson was playing for Hull, as was Harry Maguire. I wouldn’t have noticed Robertson at that time if I’m being honest, but he then moved to Liverpool and he has been the best left-back for them. He’s been the best left-back in England and, maybe, Europe for the past two years. For me, now, he is the one I’m looking to catch, without a doubt. He is the best.”
