Andrew Robertson Would ‘Love’ Celtic Move If he Does Not Retire At Liverpool

Liverpool full-back Andrew Robertson has revealed that he would “love” a return to the  Scottish Premier League to play for defending champions Celtic towards the end of his career if he is unable to retire at Anfield.

Ever since making the move from Hull City to Liverpool back in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee of a reported £8 million, Robertson has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence for the Reds.

The 26-year-old defender has racked up 119 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions over the past three seasons, establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in world football along the way.

Robertson also played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s incredible run to Champions League triumph last season and has further built on that platform by helping Jurgen Klopp’s side rise to the summit of the Premier League table this season, 25 points clear of 2nd placed Manchester City.

The Merseyside giants convinced Robertson to sign a new long-term contract in January 2019, which will see him remain at Liverpool at least until the summer of 2024.

The Scottish star insists that he would like to see out his playing days at Anfield itself, but also explained that the chance to return at Celtic Park holds great appeal to him due to the fact he supported the club as a youngster while growing up.

Robertson spent some time of his youth at Celtic’s academy before turning into a professional footballer and would relish the opportunity to return to the club one day towards the end of his playing career.

While speaking to BBC, the hard-working Scor explained that he would consider returning to Scotland and play for Celtic towards the latter stages of his career, “If you asked me now what I’d want to do, I’d love to retire at Liverpool of course, but you know how hard it is to play at the highest of levels until you’re 35-36. I’d love to pull on the Celtic top and walk out at Parkhead. Do I want to go back at one point to even just live? Yeah, maybe.”

Robertson has racked up seven assists this season for Liverpool in the Premier League and scored one goal as well marauding on the left-hand side of the pitch.
