Andy Robertson hails Liverpool’s impressive squad depth, highlights Jota’s importance

The squad depth at Liverpool FC has been immensely bolstered with the arrival and the subsequent brilliant run of form showcased by summer signing Diogo Jota said Andy Robertson following the Reds’ holding out Manchester City to a 1-1 draw away from home.

The 23-year-old Portuguese winger has been in red hot form in front of the goal ever since his move to Anfield from fellow top-flight side Wolves this summer, and Jota’s brilliance has come at a great period of time for the Premier League champions, said Roberton while speaking to the club’s official website, Liverpoolfc.com.

“Look, that’s what happens with players like Diogo – who scored a hat-trick in midweek, he’s scored so many goals – and obviously the manager looked at it and thought, ‘I have to get him in the team’.

Robertson also voiced praise for the fringe duo of Xherdan Shaqiri and James Milner, both of whom have grasped recent first-team opportunities in Jurgen Klopp’s side despite a number of options being at the German’s disposal.

“The front three have been phenomenal the last three years and then we bring on quality like Shaq, who is in such a good moment right now. He has played phenomenal football the past couple of weeks and then we bring on Millie, trusty Millie, slotting in for Trent.”

“That was part of us maybe adapting as a team, being able to play different formations, being able to play different personnel and things like that – and we managed to do that against one of the best teams in the league.

The ever-tireless and Mr.Versatile for the Merseyside giants, James Milner slotted in with ease for the inured Trent Alexander Arnold during Sunday’s draw at the Etihad Stadium, as Arnold limped off the pitch in the last third of the game with a calf issue.
