Maintaining a clean sheet on their travels to South London came of much importance to Liverpool FC’s Andy Robertson, with the Scottsman in a post-match talk with the club’s official website, Liverpoolfc.com, admitting that the Reds ran out perfect winners in their 7-0 victory over the Eagles.
“We’ve taken all the chances that were presented to us – seven goals and a clean sheet and the important thing is the three points.”
“Now we can sit back and enjoy the weekend of football knowing that we’ve got our three points in the bag and let’s see what unfolds. But it was as close to a perfect as we can get away from home.”
Jurgen Klopp’s men recorded the Merseysiders’ largest top-flight away victory on Saturday at Selhurst Park as braces from Roberto Firmino and Mohammad Salah helped storm the defending champions to a majestic win.
Robertson’s showing in the weekend fixture was splendid as per the full-back’s usual standards, with the 26-year-old setting up Firmino for his opening goal of the early kick-off Premeir League match as well putting in a solid defensive display when going up against Palace dangerman Wilfried Zaha.
But the defender revealed that he and his fellow backline members were overjoyed at keeping the highly-rated Crystal Palace frontline at bay from finding the back of Alisson Becker’s net, as Klopp’s side brought up their fourth clean sheet of the 2020-21 league campaign.
“Yeah, the seven goals will obviously be concentrated on but me, Ali, Trent, Fab, Joel, Hendo, everyone, we’re all buzzing because coming away from home – especially Crystal Palace, a really tough place to come – and getting a clean sheet is great.”
“That’s really important but when you score seven goals of course all the frontmen will get the plaudits and rightly so!”
