Anfield hero Ian Rush is excited by the arrival of Liverpool’s new recruit Luis Diaz who will add more depth to Jurgen Klopp’s attacking roster.
Diaz signed for Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders in the final days of the January transfer window that shut on Monday with Liverpool making the FC Porto attacker their sole incoming.
The Columbia international’s recruitment will provide Liverpool with additional firepower in the final third of the pitch where the Reds have looked sluggish so far this season despite the ever-present Mohamed Salah’s heroics.

Salah, however, along with his strike partners Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino is set to turn 30 over the course of this campaign which prompted Klopp to dip into the transfer market for reinforcements and shore up his roster heading into the business end of the top flight season.
Ian Rush, Liverpool’s all-time top goalscorer, was full of praise for Diaz in his interview with the club’s official website with the Welshman admitting that the new signing would add to the competition for places in the forward roles.
“He’s an excellent signing. I was surprised myself, to tell you the truth, but I think it’s competition for places.
“For me, I think it’s good because it’s competition for places. We’ve got one hell of a forward line now, haven’t we?
“I think [competition] just makes you want to play better. You look at what he’s like in training and if you see if he’s excellent in training, you’ve got to up your own game as well. That’s what it’s all about.
“It’s competition for places. So when you see him training, you’re saying, ‘I’m not guaranteed a game, I’ve got to play well in training, never mind the games.’
“It just gives you competition for places but I think it’s great for the manager. You’ve got to make the manager make the decision.”
