Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte has applauded Liverpool FC’s long-term project on their squad rebuilding and the Reds’ rise to the pinnacle of world football in recent years, terming Jurgen Klopp’s side to be a ‘war machine’.
Speaking to reporters, as reported by Bein Sports, ahead of his team’s league fixture against Genoa, Conte was generous in his praise for the transfer business of Liverpool FC, with the Italian outlining Klopp’s work at Anfield as an example of team-building over a period of time to gather long-term results.
“We need to work hard. As an example I take Klopp’s Liverpool. It was four years without winning – now they are a war machine.
“We are building something important. I don’t know if it will lead to winning something in the short term, but I know for sure that it is a right path.
“Even from the outside, seeing Inter, you get the idea of a solid structure unlike in other years. This gives me happiness.”
Conte came up against the Merseyside giants a number of times during his days as the boss of Chelsea, where the Italian coach won the Premier League title in his first season in charge of the Blues. After departing the West London outfit in 2018, he has gone on to become the manager of Inter Milan, where he has enjoyed significant success as well.
Liverpool FC’s model of business has garnered a lot of praise in recent times from big names in the footballing community, and this summer’s work in the transfer market headed by Klopp was also the subject of high praise from many pundits across England.
