Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool Match Report | Premier League 2020-21

Liverpool FC put their Champions League hopes firmly back on track with a comprehensive 3-0 win on their visit to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night.

A brace from substitute Diogo Jota and a stunner from Mohammad Salah was all it took for the Merseysiders to seal all three points and move up to fifth in the Premier League standings.

MATCH PROCEEDINGS

The visitors enjoyed a superb share of possession in the first half of the weekend showdown in North London but were unable to translate their control over the proceedings into goals.

James Milner and Fabinho had ambitious efforts on goal but the midfield pairing were far from troubling Arsenal No.1 Bernd Leno.

Milner got another fantastic opportunity to put his side in the lead after being found by a Trent Alexander-Arnold delivery but the skipper’s strike went off-target.

Liverpool FC entered the second-half with much vigour and urgency on the attacking front with Jurgen Klopp opting to bring on Diogo Jota off the bench as the clock neared an hour of play.

Jota, who had been left out of the starting XI to much surprise from the Liverpool FC fanbase, made an instant impact as he headed the ball past Leno into the back of the net from another fantastic delivery put into the box by Arnold.

Four minutes later it was Salah who eased past a couple of Arsenal defenders and nutmegged Leno with his strike to double Liverpool FC’s advantage on what was proving to be an exceptional showing from Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Salah then turned provider for his attacking partner Jota as the former’s ball was given the sleekest of touches by the lurking Sadio Mane following which Jota blasted the ball into the back of the net for his brace.

The final whistle reflected well the 3-0 win that went the visitors’ way and Jurgen Klopp and Co. move just two points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea with their top-four hopes making progress again.
