Arsenal are said to be monitoring Liverpool target Mason Mount’s contract situation with Chelsea ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
The England playmaker’s long-term future in west London appears to hang in the balance with Chelsea yet to strike an agreement with the player over a new contract which will run beyond the summer of 2024.
According to a report from goal.com, it is claimed that despite Arsenal’s strong interest in signing West Ham United man Declan Rice, Mount also being discussed in the Gunners camp which wants to bolster their engine room before the next season gets underway.
This would come as a setback to Liverpool’s well documented plans of moving in for the 24-year-old Mount who will undoubtedly relish the possibility of playing in the Champions League next season for which Liverpool might not qualify, unlike Arsenal.
Early talks are believed to have taken place between the North London giants and the player’s representatives with Mount appearing closer to a move elsewhere when the transfer window re-opens later this year.
