Aston Villa are backed to be eyeing up Liverpool’s young midfield talent Curtis Jones in a £15 million swoop before deadline day on Tuesday.
Reports from The Sun claim that Dean Smith’s big-spending outfit are in line to extend a former offer to Liverpool for landing their highly-promising midfielder Jones who has been tipped for a bright future by many at Anfield including his coach Jurgen Klopp.
The 20-year-old is yet to cement his first-team berth in the Liverpool colours, however, and could be on his way out in the final hours of this summer’s transfer window amid interest from Aston Villa in his services.
Liverpool could be set to turn down any interest in Jones from his suitors in the market with Jurgen Klopp already under pressure to sign a new midfield man after the long-serving Gini Wijnaldum made the switch to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer on a free transfer.
Villa have been bid spenders in the summer as Dean Smith looks to bolster his squad after the sale of Jack Grealish to Manchester City but landing Jones on the cheap from Liverpool might not go the Aston Villa manager’s way as the window nears its conclusion.
