Aston Villa are set to make a last-ditch move to land Liverpool centre-back Joe Gomez in the final days of the January transfer window.
Steven Gerrard has enjoyed a stellar start to life at Villa Park since his hiring to the top job but the played-turned-manager is looking to improve his side’s defensive options from the market.
On the fringes of the Liverpool fold, Gomez could be lured into a move away from Anfield in what remains of the transfer window this month with Villa keen to step up their chase for the England international defender.
According to reports from Football Insider, it is suggested that Steven Gerrard’s side will table another move for Gomez’s signature with the player finding it tough to cement a berth on the Liverpool team sheet so far this season.
Liverpool, however, are tipped to play down interest from the Midlands in Gomez with Jurgen Klopp deciding against shipping out his fourth-choice centre-back option midway through the campaign.
