Atletico Madrid are understood to be weighing up a summer move for Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita who is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season.
Keita is all but certain to make the move elsewhere with the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp prepared to part ways with his first-team player as the latter looks to rebuild his engine room over the summer.
According to a report from the Spanish publication Fichajes, it is claimed that Keita has emerged as a viable target for the Ligue 1 giants Atletico Madrid’s coach Diego Simeone who wants to add more creativity to his midfield roster.
Liverpool had forked out around €60 million to sign the Guinean international from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2019 with Keita’s stint in the Reds shirt mired by recurring injury troubles and inconsistent form.
There is the expectation that Klopp would be keen to bring in a couple of fresh faces for his midfield with Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham and Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount first-choice names on his shortlist of candidates.
