Barca face a challenge from the La Liga regulations in their attempts to sign Liverpool contract rebel Mohamed Salah this coming summer.
The Catalan giants have been linked with a move for Salah’s signature heading into the new season with the Egypt international yet to renew terms on Merseyside with Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Salah is out of contract at Anfield in the summer of 2023 but his demands for a major hike in wages have not gone down well with the Liverpool board, resulting in a long drawn out contract impasse.
According to a report from the Spanish news outlet Marca, it is claimed that despite Barcelona’s strong interest in making a move for Salah come the summer, the woeful financial situation at Camp Nou, as well as La Liga-imposed spending limit, would make things difficult on the transfer front.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have been pushing for the 29-year-old Salah, the leading goalscorer in the Premier League this season with 20 strikes to his name, to commit his future to the Reds by penning a new long-term deal.
