Barcelona are expected to rival Liverpool for signing Chelsea star Mason Mount in the summer with the England midfielder likley to seek a new club after is contract standoff with the Blues.
Mount is into the final 18 months of his current terms at Stamford Bridge and with the playmaker holding out for a major hike in wages, speculation is rife over his future with Graham Potter’s side beyond the end of the season.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been credited with an interest in moving in for the 24-year-old Englishman who can provide that extra impetus to the engine room at Anfield which has come under much criticism this term for inconsistent displays.
According to a report form the Italian news outlet Calciomercato, it is claimed that La Liga heavyweights FC Barcelona are weighing up a move for the Chelsea contract rebel and could challenge Liverpool’s plans on the transfer front.
Barcelona currently sit at the summit of the Spanish top flight and with Champions League football all but certain next season at Camp Nou, Xavi would be hopeful of convincing Mount to make the move away from the Premier League.
