Barcelona will not make an approach for Roberto Firmino this summer

Barcelona will reportedly not make an approach for Roberto Firmino this summer amid speculation that the Catalan outfit were keen on the Brazilian forward.

Firmino is out of contract at Anfield come the end of the season and with the 31-year-old rebuffing the opportunity to renew his terms, a move elsewhere is on the cards for the forward when the transfer window reopens for business.

According to a report from the Spanish news outlet Marca, it is claimed that Barcelona are not considering moving in for the soon-to-be free agent as Xavi Hernandez remains on the hunt for a backup for Robert Lewandowski in his squad.

It is said that the Liverpool No.9 had offered his services to Barcelona who have rebuffed the chance of signing him with the La Liga leaders likely to look elsewhere for reinforcements to bolster their front line.

There is the expectation that Firmino does not want to remain in the Premier League when he heads out the Anfield exit door this coming summer, and a move abroad appears to be his wish.
