Bayern Munich chief makes David Alaba admission amidst Liverpool links

According to reports from the Goal, Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge expressed hope that wantaway defensive star David Alaba could extend his stay at the Bundesliga champions despite rampant interest in the player from the likes of Liverpool FC and Manchester City.

Both Premier League giants have been tipped to be on the forefront for making a concrete approach for the Austrian international when the winter transfer window reopens in January, with Alaba keen to seal an exit from Bayern after a contractual dispute with them.

However, Rummenigge’s recent remarks do throw light on the fact that Alaba will be pushed hard by the Bavarian outfit to seek an extension in spite of the 28-year-old wanting a substantial increase in his wages, something that has not gone well with the UCL holders.

Rummenigge was quoted as saying: “The door is still open a little bit.

“If David wants to stay in Bavaria, we need to evaluate how we can find a reasonable solution for both sides.”

Alaba was in full flow during Bayern’s narrow 3-2 victory in the Bundesliga over arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund, chipping in with a wonderful goal to clinch all three points in the bag for his side as Hansi Flick’s men reclaimed the top spot in the league standings.
