Liverpool FC are being linked with a move for wantaway defensive star David Alaba in the upcoming winter transfer window, following reports from The Sun that the Austrian international is not keen on extending terms with Bayern Munich beyond next summer.
Despite Alaba becoming a free agent in the summer of 2021, the injury-hit backline of the Reds might force Jurgen Klopp to negotiate a cut-price deal with the Bavarian giants for the centre-back, similar to what Liverpool FC had done with Thiago Alcantara this summer.
The Bayern Munich player is reportedly keen on signing for the Anfield giants, and the prospects of playing with his former teammate Thiago, now a crucial part of Klopp’s first-team squad, could go a long way in luring the defender to the Merseyside.
However, the Reds would find themselves involved in a three-horse race to land Alaba’s signature, with Arsenal and Juventus being the two other teams also reportedly eager on making the move for the 28-year-old.
If Liverpool FC does manage to sign the centre-back, Klopp would have the facility to call upon the Austrian as a major reinforcement to the Reds’ defensive core following recent injury troubles mounting for the Premier League champions.
