Liverpool could be left behind by Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign the highly-rated Dutchman Donyell Malen this summer following Dortmund sanctioning the sale of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.
Speculation is that PSV talisman Malen who found the back of the net 19 times in 28 outings last season in domestic football could be a major target for the Bundesliga outfit.
Reports from The Mirror claim that Dortmund now have sizable funds at their disposal to spend this summer and with Sancho gone, the Germans will prioritise bringing in a new attacking signing.
Liverpool had earlier been linked with a swoop for the Holland international who failed to open his account at the UEFA European Championships but registered two assists across his four appearances as the Orange were knocked out of the tournament in the Last-16.
With Dortmund enjoying a bolstered transfer kitty in the aftermath of Sancho’s move to Old Trafford, it is believed that the Germans will seek to outbid Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders to land Malen’s signature.
