Brazilian icon Rivaldo has said that Leeds United star winger Raphinha should make the move to Liverpool who are eyeing up the player since this summer’s transfer window.
Raphinha is understood to be a top name on the shopping list for the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp with a potential move from the Anfield camp for the Brazilian forward very much a possibility sooner rather than later.
The 24-year-old has been a hit at Elland Road following his move to England’s top flight last summer from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes and Liverpool are credited with a strong interest in securing his services.
Klopp has an underwhelming bench strength in his forward lineup and the imminent absence of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in January owing to AFCON will pile on the pressure on the German coach.
Rivaldo, while speaking to Betfair, tipped Raphinha to be a viable target for Liverpool with the former FC Barcelona man suggesting that the Leeds United star could benefit from playing at the highest level of club football on Merseyside.
“Raphinha performed well on his debut for Brazil, but he was already shining in the Premier League with Leeds United and there are rumours of interest from Liverpool.”
“If he were to make the move, he may not be a regular starter, but I’m sure it would be a big step in his career.
“It would allow him to compete for titles and play in the Champions League which could be crucial for more call ups into the Brazilian national team.
“He has the quality to play for a bigger club. He is playing excellent football and a player always wants more and stronger challenges, so he would benefit from a transfer.”
