The Reds picked up three points on their travel away from home for the first time in five games with a 3-1 win at Brighton. A brace from Mohammad Salah and a fantastic long-range strike by Jordan Henderson were enough to win the game for the Premier League champions.
Liverpool FC opened the scoring with Naby Keita dispossessing Davy Propper and squaring the ball cleanly for Mohammad Salah. The Egyptian scored an easy goal past Matt Ryan to give his side the lead in the 6th minute. Salah’s goal was the first goal scored by a Reds’ player in more than 600 minutes of football played by Liverpool FC away from Anfield.
Just two minutes later, Roberto Firmino gained the ball and passed it to Salah who set up a first-time strike for the Jordan Henderson. The Reds’ skipper made the most of the chance and buried the ball in the net from 20 yards out.
Both Liverpool FC goals cemented the visitor’s hold over the game in just the opening ten minutes. Brighton were unable to withhold the high-intensity pressing done by the Liverpool FC players and looked susceptible to let in more goals.
19-year old Reds fullback Neco Williams, making his first Premier League start, made a wonderful last-ditch recovery tackle to deny Trossard from pulling one back for Brighton.
However, Trossard did manage to score only a while later when the Belgian winger half-volleyed an inch-perfect cross from Tariq Lamptey as the first half of the game neared its end.
Klopp brought on Andy Robertson for Neco Williams at the start of the second half, with the youngster having been booked in the first half. The arrival of Robertson on the left helped more Liverpool FC attacks to come from the flanks.
A couple of chances then well Salah’s way to move up the goalscoring charts of this season’s Premier League, however, the winger was unable to do so. But the Egyptian international was successful in nodding home a corner kick taken by Robertson for his second goal of the night.
Liverpool FC soon finished the match as victors, their 30th Premier League win of the campaign. The Reds now play hosts to Burnley on 11th July with only three Premier League fixture remaining for Jurgen Klopp’s following their game against The Clarets.
