Liverpool are set to receive a £15 million bid coming their way from fellow Premier League outfit Brighton who are the frontrunners to sign Reds defensive star Nat Phillips in this summer’s transfer window.
Phillips was a shock standout performer for Jurgen Klopp’s injury-hit side in the backend of the 2020-21 campaign and the central defender’s run of form was key to Liverpool securing a top-four finish in the Premier League table.
However, with the imminent return of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip to the Anfield fold ahead of the start of the new season, the 24-year-old Phillips is certain to fall down the pecking order which will reduce his minutes on the football pitch.
Reports from TalkSport claim that with Brighton’s centre-back talent Ben White closing on a move to Arsenal, Graham Potter’s side will eye up Phillips as their replacement for White who was a central figure in the Brighton backline.
Liverpool are understood to be willing to sanction Phillips’ sale this summer should a reasonable offer arrive their path with the player himself keen on seeking regular first-team football next season.
