Chelsea join Liverpool in the race to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro

As reported by 90 Min, Chelsea have joined Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign 17-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro.

The Lille star has garnered significant attention since his emergence in Ligue 1, but his current club is eager to secure his long-term commitment by extending his contract.

Premier League teams are becoming more proactive in securing deals for young and up-and-coming talents from various clubs.

Chelsea, especially since the arrival of their new owners last year, has been a prominent example of this approach, investing significantly in signing promising talents from across the globe.

The Blues have been particularly focused on monitoring talent in France, and they have already added several emerging stars to their squad.

Last summer, they brought in four new players from Ligue 1, and they are now looking to apply a similar strategy to attract Yoro.

The youngster has quickly risen as one of the most promising talents to emerge from France and LOSC Lille. He is currently in his third season in the league, with limited appearances in his first year but has now established himself as a regular, featuring for the full 90 minutes in the last seven matches.

With 27 appearances for the club, likely, several top clubs are closely monitoring his progress. Real Madrid have been tracking him, and they may consider making a move if the circumstances are favourable.

Barcelona are also keeping a watchful eye on the defender. While United and Liverpool have been linked to Yoro, the report suggests that they haven’t made a major movement in pursuing the young talent at this point.

Lille are optimistic about retaining the player and are considering offering him a new contract, as his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2025.

However, suppose they fail to extend his contract. In that case, the Ligue 1 club faces the possibility of losing this talented young player at a low price, which would be advantageous to potential suitors.

Yoro shows excellent promise for the future, and further developing his skills at Lille will provide him with valuable experience and help him mature as a defender.
