Chelsea vs Liverpool: Liverpool player ratings

Adrian 7

Made a crucial save to deny Abraham and Chelsea the equalizer in the first half.Would have been relieved to see Azpilicueta’s goal ruled out by VAR after he didn’t cover himself in glory with the shot.

 Trent Alexander-Arnold 8

Scored Liverpool’s first with an unstoppable shot that would have beat any keeper. Another excellent free-kick for Firmino to score Liverpool’s second

Joel Matip 6.5

Wasn’t given much to do by the Chelsea forwards. Was strong at set-pieces but was lucky to see Batshuayi’s header go wide when he was caught ball watching.

Virgil Van Dijk 7

Solid as always. Never looked troubled and had Tammy Abraham in his back pocket the full 90 minutes of the game.

Andy Robertson 6.5

Not at his best right now. Produced some wayward crossing at times in the game and Azpilicueta got the better of him on a few occasions.

Fabinho 7

Could have done better when closing Kante for Chelsea’s goal. Played some lovely long balls over the top of the Chelsea defenders. Won the ball back well for Liverpool. Booked

Jordan Henderson 6.5

Lost the ball on a few occasions which would have frustrated Klopp. Set the tone for Liverpool with an aggressive display and got in a few tussles with Chelsea’s Jorginho.

Gini Wijnaldum 6

Another player not at his best. Plenty of running as usual but not much purpose on the ball.

Sadio Mane 6

Did not have many chances in front of goal in the game. Played a lovely long ball for Salah which Salah should have converted in the second half. Was replaced by Milner in the second half.

Roberto Firmino 7.5

Did well to get away from his marker and score Liverpool’s second of the game with a wonderful header from a freekick. Played some good passes in tight areas.

Mo Salah 6

Was poor against his former club and looked tired after a tough away game at Napoli in midweek. Should have scored when he was put through by Mane in the second half.
