Jurgen Klopp decides to drop Sadio Mane in wake of the Senegalese failing to end his barren run of recent form in front of the goal as the Reds welcome Aston Villa to Anfield for the weekend showdown.
Liverpool FC’s latest outing came in midweek Champions League action with Jurgen Klopp’s men suffering a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.
Changes on show in the Liverpool midfield
The much-experinced face of James Milner is back in the centre of the park for the hosts with Naby Keita dropping down to bench after what was an uninspiring showing by him last time around in Madrid.
Thiago Alcantara fails to garner yet another chance to feature amongst the XI for Liverpool FC as the Spanish midfielder is kept on the bench.
A new-look frontline for the Reds
Sadio Mane’s exclusion allows Roberto Firmino to earn a recall back into the fold and the Brazil international would be partnered by the likes of Diogo Jota and Mohammad Salah in the final third of the pitch.
Firmino had been displayed in the UCL encounter earlier this week by Jota but the former had been brought off the bench with hopes of Liverpool FC hoping to pull one goal back against their Spanish counterparts.
Here is how both teams line up for today’s Premier League fixture:
