It is a surprising tinkering around with the Liverpool XI for the weekend clash at Old Trafford with Sadio Mane and Joel Matip benched.
Both players make way for Diogo Jota and Ibrahima Konate to come into the starting teamsheet with defensive midfielder Fabinho out with a short-term knee issue.
Konate gets the nod ahead of Joe Gomez to partner Van Dijk
With Joel Matip benched for the game against Manchester United, it is summer signing Ibrahima Konate fielded by Jurgen Klopp as Virgil van Dijk’s partner in the heart of the four-man backline.
Joe Gomez remains on the bench with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson slotting in at their usual full-back roles out on the flanks.
An unchanged midfield for the visitors
Skipper Jordan Henderson is joined by James Milner and Naby Keita in the centre of the park with Jurgen Klopp unable to call upon Fabinho who is out injured and misses today’s outing.
Curtis Jones features on the bench after his return to the fold from an injury and up top on the pitch Diogo Jota earns a recall and replaces the in-form winger Sadio Mane.
Here is how both teams line up for today’s Premier League fixture:
