Jurgen Klopp rings in major changes to the Liverpool XI that would take the field against Southampton for their penultimate league outing of the season.
The Merseysiders have a host of their star names rested following the weekend’s shootout win in the FA Cup finals against Chelsea at Wembley.
Arnold and Van Dijk drop out
At the back for the visitors to Southampton, the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson are absent from the matchday squad.
In come Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and FA Cup match-winner Kostas Tsimikas with Ibrahima Konate the sole defender from Saturday’s Wembley showdown to retain his starting berth.
Curtis Jones and Minamino handed starts
There is a complete reshuffle of the midfield options with James Milner, taking over the captain’s armband from Jordan Henderson, joined by Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott.
In the attacking third, Roberto Firmino earns a recall along with Diogo Jota and Takumi Minamino with Luis Diaz featuring on the bench.
