Merely two minutes had gone by in the weekend fixture at Selhurst Park when Takumi Minamino, brought into the XI for Mohammad Salah, netted his first league goal for the Reds, slotting a low driving finish past Guaita.

The hosts squandered a number of easy chances following Liverpool FC’s opener and Klopp’s side looked all set to deliver further blows to the London outfit over the course of the opening 45 minutes.

Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino were both on target for the visitors inside the first half, with latter setting Mane up for the second goal before getting himself onto the end of a fantastic delivery into the box by Andy Robertson to triple Liverpool FC’s advantage.

A brilliant build up in the opening stages of the second half saw Trent Alexander Arnold tee up Jordan Henderson’s superb curling effort into the far right corner of the Crystal Palace goal as the visitors sought to wrap up the game in a dominant manner.

Mohammad Salah had been rested for the Selhurst Park showdown, but following the Egyptian international being brought off the bench, he set up Firmino for the 29-year-old’s second goal of the afternoon before finding the back of the net himself, twice within a span of a few minutes.

Salah’s first goal of the game was a headed effort past Guaita, and the forward’s second was a true masterclass, as he took a couple of touches after being found out by the returning Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with a neat pass before exquisitely curling the ball into the back of the net to bring the scoreline to 7-0 in Liverpool FC’s favour.

A record victory at Selhurst Park meant that Klopp’s men go six points clear at the top of the league table for now, prior to second-placed Tottenham Hotspurs playing hosts to Leicester City later this weekend.
