Former Liverpool star harbors intent of returning to the Premier League

Ex-Liverpool FC ace Daniel Sturridge has revealed intentions of staging a comeback to the Premier League. The English international has been out of action on the pitch since he was banned from all football-related activity earlier this year in March.

Sturridge had been given a four-month ban after reports had come to light suggesting that the 30-year old had violated the gambling guidelines set by the FA. Having left the Reds at the end of the 2018-19 season, the English forward had signed for Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

And now the former Reds attacker has expressed hope of returning to England to play in the Premier League once again. The 30-year old voiced his belief of still having some ‘unfinished business’ in England’s top-flight division.

“I believe I’ve got a lot to give to the Premier League and I would say that’s my first choice. I do feel I have unfinished business so I would like to go back and play there.

Sturridge did, however, state that he was willing to play in other leagues as well. But it is understood that the player is eager on securing a move back to England this summer. He is certainly loved by supporters across the country due to his exploits in the England national team colours, having scored eight goals in 26 games for the Three Lions.

“I’m open to playing in other leagues, it’s not just the Premier League I’m going to consider, but to come back to England and give my best would be a huge option for me.

The player was a star presence for Liverpool FC during his days at the Merseyside club. However, Sturridge’s minutes on the pitch was severely cut short by a number of lengthy spells on the sidelines owing to constant injury niggles. Despite that, the English international’s record at Liverpool FC boasted of 67 goals in 160 appearances.

The striker famously formed the attacking partnership with Luis Suarez during the 2013-14 season under Brendan Rodgers when the Reds narrowly missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.
