Danny Murphy has urged Borussia Dortmund’s in-demand midfielder Jude Bellingham to choose Liverpool over the Premier League champions Manchester City.
Bellingham has long been linked with a move away from Dortmund following his stock’s rise in world football after a consistent set of displays for both club and country in the recent past.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been considered one of his many big-name suitors in the transfer market with Klopp looking to reinforce his under-fire midfield roster by signing the 19-year-old English talent who will be heading into this month’s World Cup with the Three Lions.
Recent rumours, however, have suggested that it is Liverpool’s arch rivals Manchester City who could emerge as the frontrunners for Bellingham’s signature with the champions of England gearing up to fork out a massive fee for his services.
Former Liverpool man Danny Murphy, while speaking to talkSPORT, has claimed that the midfielder is better off signing for the Merseysiders where he will be a guaranteed name on the team sheet rather than struggle for playing time at the Etihad.
“Would he get in any team? At the moment I don’t think he would get in every team, no.
“So I think for him it’s a case of, does he want to go and play every week? Probably, because he’s used to playing. Or, does he want to go somewhere where he’s part of something growing?
“He is [perfect for Liverpool], and he’d play. The difference is if he went to City, for example, you could argue at the minute that he probably wouldn’t play.”
