Darren Bent reckons Liverpool want to move in for Manchester United rebel Paul Pogba who is out of contract at Old Trafford this summer.
The World Cup-winning French midfielder is set to head into free agency after snubbing the offer to renew his terms with Manchester United beyond the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
With speculation rife over his next destination, Pogba has the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain chasing his coveted signature with the midfield man still considered to be one of the best in the game on his day.
Ex-England international Bent, however, believes Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are serious candidates to offer Pogba a chance to stay put in the Premier League with the Reds likely to commence talks with the player’s camp in the ongoing transfer window.
In an interview with TalkSport, Bent tipped both Liverpool and Manchester City to emerge as dark horses for Pogba in the summer with two of England’s biggest clubs certain to monitor the highly-rated midfielder’s situation.
“You say Klopp and Pep wouldn’t touch him, I bet they’ve probably looked at the scenario and I bet they’ve had a conversation with him.
“You know what all great manager’s are like, they always think that even though that player has been a problem elsewhere, I can get the best out of him. I can guarantee you that Pep and Klopp think they can get the best out of any player on the planet.”
