Darwin Nunez faces a late fitness test ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon, revealed the boss Jurgen Klopp in his pre-match remarks to the press.
Nunez was on the scoresheet in midweek to steer Liverpool to a 1-0 win over West Ham United and to score in front of the home supporters for the first time since making his move to Anfield in the summer.
As reported by the club’s official website, however, Klopp voiced concern over Nunez’s fitness levels in the build-up to his side locking horns with the league’s new boys Forest who sit at the foot of the standings.
“He is one of the cases where we need to have a look because he was not injured, but he felt something and I don’t know if he feels that still today and what the medical department tells me then, we have to see.”
Klopp’s comments could mean little should there be no injury scare for the Liverpool frontman who will be looking to keep the goals coming after an indifferent start to life on Merseyside since Liverpool signed him in a club record deal from Benfica.
The Reds have no fresh concerns on the injury front ahead of the lunchtime kickoff at the City Groud on Saturday with Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate too staging returns to training after their spells on the sidelines.
