Denis Zakaria admits Liverpool interest before Chelsea deadline day move

Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria has revealed Liverpool’s interest in his services before making the move to Chelsea on deadline day in a loan transfer.

Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders had been on the hunt for a late-window midfield signing to bolster their injury-hit roster and had eyed up Juventus man Zakaria before turning to his teammate Arthur Melo.

Zakaria, while speaking to Swiss newspaper Blick, has now admitted that there was interest from the Anfield camp prior to signing for Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Chelsea.

“I heard that from my agent.

“But in the end it was Chelsea, and I think I’ll be happier in England than in Turin.”

Liverpool’s hunt for midfield reinforcements has been well documented of late with the head coach Jurgen Klopp keen to bolster his engine room options by next summer with talk gaining ground that loan signing Arthur Melo will be sent back following his loan spell.

Borussia Dortmund talent Jude Bellingham is said to be the top name on Klopp’s shopping list with the German coach expected to break the bank to secure the signing of the teenage midfield talent.
