Diogo Jota faces a race against time to prove his fitness for the Carabao Cup final with the forward picking up an ankle injury midweek against Inter Milan.
The 2-0 win against Inter on Wednesday night was of much importance to Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders who are now one foot into booking their quarter finals berth in the Champions League.
Jota’s injury, however, has been a souring point at Anfield with the in-form Portugal international, boasting of 17 goals to his tally in all competitions already this season, confirmed sidelined by Jurgen Klopp in his pre-match remarks ahead of Saturday’s visit of Norwich City.
“He will not be available this weekend but the extent is still not clear.
“We need further assessment. It’s something with some ligaments in and around the ankle, but not the ligament, some others.
“So, pretty much everything is possible in the moment; that it will go really quick and the other way around unfortunately as well. So we have to wait.
