Diogo Jota created history with his goal on Sunday against Leicester City as the summer purchase brought up his fourth goal in as many top-flight games at Anfield, a new record in the Merseyside outfit’s famed history.
Ever since his move to Liverpool FC and subsequent hold over a starting spot in Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice lineup, Jota has been sensational in front of the goal, getting on the scoresheet every so often in his new club colours.
And praise for the Portugal international has been wide fold in recent months and following the Sunday showdown at Anfield, Sky Sports pundits Patrice Evra and Freddie Ljungberg joined the growing list of Jota admirers, with both voicing lavish praise for the new Liverpool FC frontman,
‘When you play with confidence, he knows Robertson will deliver it and he knows where the space was,’ said Evra.
‘What a great player and what a great goal.’
Ljungberg said, as quoted by the Daily Mail: ‘I always liked him when he was at Wolves. Of course the top three they have is tremendous but you need other players and someone of that quality to fill in like today and do what he’s doing is worth his weight in gold and that’s how you win medals.’
Jota’s inclusion in the Liverpool FC XI has increased significantly over the last few weeks, aided by Mohammad Salah being sidelined for recent games due to COVID-19, and the ex-Wolves star has grabbed hold of the staring spot opportunity with a tight grasp ahead of the mid-week Champions League fixture against Atalanta.
