Diogo Jota has enjoyed a superlative start to life at Liverpool FC on the back of a big-money move to the Merseyside club this summer from Wolves. The Portuguese international has grasped early first-team opportunities wholeheartedly and looks all set to nail down a starting spot in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool FC legend Kenny Dalglish also joined the new flock of Jota fans, with the ex-Red voicing huge praise for the new boy’s attacking exploits in recent months, whilst speaking to the Liverpool Echo.
“For Diogo to come in and score as freely as he has done and to make such an impact, not always having played the full game, will do him a world of good.
“The belief he’ll have in himself and the confidence supporters will have in him too.
“It’s important when someone comes in and settles straight away, for the player and the club, just look at the contribution he has made.
Jota’s superb run of form in front of the goal is playing a major factor behind major doubts over Roberto Firmino’s speculated future exclusion from Klopp’s first-team plans at Anfield. Contrary to Jota being an exciting presence in the attacking line for the Reds, Firmino, on the other hand, has endured a fairly dry spell of goalscoring returns in recent times.
However, both forwards will be lining up beside each other come Sunday at Anfield, as Mohammad Salah’s positive COVID-19 test sidelines the Egyptian international from featuring in the weekend fixture at home to Leicester City.
