Liverpool star Divock Origi is certain that his game is improving despite the limited opportunities at the Merseyside club and wants to continue working under German boss Jurgen Klopp.
Origi established himself as an Anfield cult hero the last term with a few crucial goals, including a clinching strike in the 2-0 Champions League final win over domestic rivals Tottenham in June.
The Belgian forward has netted a further five times in all competitions this season but still remains firmly behind the star trident of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in the pecking order.
Following his goal in the Champions League final, Origi signed an improved “long-term” contract on with Liverpool in July 2019, and he has no intention of moving on and away from the European giants anytime soon.
While speaking to a Belgian news outlet, the 25-year-old striker explained that Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp has provided him with a platform to prove himself as a better player, “I am a better player than last year, Klopp has given me the space to develop myself. I always listen to my instinct and continue to work. We have spoken with Liverpool and we have a nice course ahead of us. I just want to get better here.”
Origi’s knack for scoring vital goals for Liverpool was also demonstrated with the first and fourth goal during their 4-0 Champions League semi-final second leg victory over LaLiga giants Barcelona last season, completing their comeback on aggregate and sealing their place in the final against North London side Tottenham.
The star attacker also endeared himself to the Reds faithful by scoring a late winner against local rivals Everton in the Premier League last campaign, capitalising on a blunder by Blues keeper Jordan Pickford to bundle home in the 96th minute in front of the Kop making him a further fan favourite.
