Former Newcastle United and Watford defender Daryl Janmaat is being lined up as a potential Liverpool FC signing in January if reports from TeamTalk are believed to be true.
The Reds are in a dire need of defensive reinforcements following Joe Gomez becoming the latest Liverpool FC first-team centre-back to sustain a major injury blow, one which could possibly rule out the English international from appearing on the pitch for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.
Prior to Gomez’s injury while on international duty with England, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander Arnold had been confirmed to be long-term absentees for Jurgen Klopp’s side ahead of a gruesome fixture list awaiting the Merseysiders.
Janmaat is without a club since leaving The Hornets on mutual consent last month, and the 31-year-old’s past experience of playing in the Premier League makes the Dutchman an attractive option for Liverpool FC to bring in as a much-needed short-term cover for the injury-hit backline.
Reports suggest that the defender is keen on being offered a contract until the end of the ongoing season, but would be glad to relent to Liverpool FC’s opening offer should Jurgen Klopp decide to make a move for him.
