Liverpool FC’s talented midfielder Fabinho has heaped praise on the club’s newest signing, Thiago Alcantara while admitting that the competition for the midfield spot in the starting XI was indeed very high at Anfield.
Thiago’s addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side this summer meant that another world-class midfield option was now available at the Liverpool FC boss’s disposal, with Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, Fabinho, and Naby Keita, already being first-team names for the Reds.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the 27-year old Fabinho stated that Klopp chose to rotate the midfield trio in his lineup the most as opposed to other areas on the pitch, and such a decision of the gaffer made the players even more ready to prove their worth to the Premier League champions.
“It’s true [that] competition for places is high in midfield.
“Ever since I arrived here, the midfield is where the manager rotates the most in games.
“Maybe it’s because it is where the players have to put in the most effort, run the most kilometres during games.
When asked about Thiago Alcantara’s quality on the ball, his new teammate was all praises for the Spanish international. The ex-Bayern Munich star’s passing ability was applauded by Fabinho, who voiced his delight at having the opportunity to play alongside such an experienced player.
“Thiago’s arrival will be really positive and he’s a player coming from an exceptional season at Bayern Munich last year.
“He’s an experienced player who inspires confidence given everything he has achieved.
“He can also add something to our team, something we didn’t have before. The quality of his passing is exceptional.
