Fabinho ruled out for West Ham clash by Klopp but could feature against Manchester City next week

Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Fabinho will not travel to the London Stadium for the game against West Ham United on Sunday but the Brazillian international is in the fray to return for next weekend’s clash against table-toppers Manchester City.

The former AS Monaco man has been sidelined in the past week owing to muscle concerns, with his absence for the recent 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspurs coming as a surprise to many prior to Klopp corroborating the midfielder’s fitness issues.

Speaking to reporters in the pre-game interview ahead of his side facing David Moyes’ high-flying West Ham United, Klopp gave some much-needed reassurance on the injury front to the Liverpool FC fanbase by claiming that Fabinho’s return to the first-team fold at Anfield looks likely only by next week.

“Minor issues nowadays are at least three games,” said Klopp.

“It depends on the week – it could be four games as well. We have to see.

“I think the game where Fab could be back is City.”

Heading into the close of the January transfer window, Klopp has seemingly decided against adding new faces to his squad in spite of the ever-increasing injury list for the Merseyside outfit.
