Fabrizio Romano has sounded out Liverpool’s interest in signing Flamengo midfielder Joao Gomes with the Reds yet to make a formal approach.
The Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has his task cut out with plans to freshen up an aging engine room and Klopp has been rumoured to be looking at bringing in fresh blood from the transfer market.
According to Romano ( via TeamTalk), Flamengo’s Joao Gomes has emerged on the radar at Anfield with Liverpool likely to turn to alternative options than extend the season-long loan spell of deadline day recruit Arthur Melo.
Arthur signed for the Merseysiders in the final hours of the summer window but his arrival is seen as more of a short-term fix for an injury-stricken Liverpool midfield roster that lost some of the key players to the sidelines early on in the season.
Injuries to Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Curtis Jones have hampered Klopp’s options in the heart of the midfield while the Liverpool boss is sure to have been delighted upon the return of the influential Thiago Alcantara to the fold.
